Having played as a goalkeeper, I have spent the past 25+ years training goalkeepers in some capacity. I have trained goalkeepers at all levels of the game from youth to senior internationals and professionals.
I have worked with many top levels goalkeeper coaches and have strived to enhance my knowledge of the position at every opportunity. My goalkeeper program is a robust combination of on-field training, video analysis and self-directed learning.
I have had great success developing local goalkeepers and many have advanced to play for national teams, professionally and have won numerous National Championships and medals.
Professional Goalkeeper Training
The past several years I have spent extensive time working with local goalkeepers to advance them from amateur to the professional level. This includes working with goalkeepers from the local professional team (HFX Wanderers FC) as well as goalkeepers from leagues around Europe.
Flight School
Flight School is a program I have developed in partnership with a local Judo Sensei/Crossfit trainer (NUMA Performance Judo). The program is targeted towards goalkeeper Strength & Conditioning through the winter months. We also mix in a healthy amount of diving technique to allow goalkeepers to enjoy the experience and train hard in a safe environment.
Farias Soccer Academy
For the past three years I have been responsible for building the goalkeeper program within the Farias Soccer Academy (Halifax, NS). This program includes goalkeepers of all ability levels and ages. We currently train goalkeepers as young as 9-10 up to goalkeepers aged 50+.
JUGS Ball Shooter
The infamous JUGS Ball Shooter in action. Used for consistent service for working on specific techniques as well as crosses and wing play.
VR Goalkeeper Training
During the Covid pandemic we spent a significant amount of time utilising VR training for many of our top goalkeepers.
Miscellaneous Goalkeeper Training
I had the opportunity to attend sessions and seminars run by Germany National Team goalkeeper coach Andy Kopke at the 2011 International Goalkeeper Congress, Cologne Germany.
Many other Bundesilga goalkeeper coaches were also in attendance to deliver seminars and sessions. Including: Michael Rechner (FC Bayern Munich), Martin Scharrer (FC Nurnberg), Lutx Pfannestiel (Hoffenheim), Jean-Marie Pfaff (FC Baryn Munich), etc.
I have worked with Liverpool FC legend Bruce Grobbelaar. Bruce was invited to our local training facility to run training with our youth goalkeepers. I was asked to assist Bruce with the training as a staff coach.
I had the opportunity to attend and participate in training sessions with former FIFA Instructor and Canadian International goalkeeper Dick Howard.
I had the opportunity to work with Canadian National Team goalkeeper coach Kevin Muldoon on numerous occasions. As a staff coach with the National Training Centre - Atlantic I worked with numerous youth goalkeepers who advanced to play at the national team level from U15-U20 both male and female.
