Sackville Bedford - Special Olympics
As a member of the Suburban FC (SFC) Board of Directors, I initiated an effort to partner with the local Special Olympics soccer program. Through the initiative we assisted the team with uniform donations (official SFC uniforms), equipment and coaching staff, consisting of youth players from the SFC club.
During team building activities, my teams typically organize events to support local charities. Here we have organized a bottle drive and food donations to support Feed Nova Scotia over the Christmas holidays.
In the past, my teams have participated in The Salvation Army Santa Shuffle. A fundraising effort to support local families in need.
During the 2008 Gothia Cup, our players/families organized an effort to supply the team from Edgars Youth Progamme (Uganda) with much needed soccer equipment (soccer balls, shin pads, socks, cleats, etc.)
Other community driven events that my teams will often participate in include:
Neighborhood Clean-Up Efforts
Fundraising BBQ's
